first impressions

we've been in our house almost 2 years now, and i've been meaning to paint our front door since like... the first time we looked at the house with our realtor.

(no, not our car... neighbors, ugh!!!)
so, we bought a pretty peach/yellow "cape cod" style house
and it had this random light mocha-ish front door and shutters

yay, much better now, right?

a better view of what color the door was

almost finished

love it!!!

add a little Texas Tech wreath
(this was my first wreath-making attempt,
and i'm certainly not quitting my day job,
but it was fun and i'll do better next time)

an assortment of red and black ribbons,
so-so for try #1 but not necessarily a keeper!

the door and shutters look much better black,
dont you think?
happy wednesday!

home is where the art is

yes, i said that right.

those of you that know us, know we are pretty big Red Raider fans, woohoo Go Tech!!!
and i've got a love for the arts, its in the blood-- from both sides of my family.
so, i figure-- since we dont live in lubbock anymore, i'd bring a little bit of lubbock to our home...

{drumroll please}
this is what you see when you open the garage door to park your car...

i mean, go big or go home...right?

i painted it for husband for his "father's day" present from Coach,
i thought it would be a little happy something
for everyday when he got home from work!

and i really like it too!
Wreck 'Em Tech!!!
happy monday

is E!THS the millenium version of an autobiography?

i mean, right....
why write it when E! will follow you around
and people can see your pics and home videos
on their lovely stalker friendly show THS.

i'm not even bashing, so dont go there...
i love me some THS.

(i'm totally air-high-five'ing all of you who think BF's THS is a great thing) G loves her too, so i know across town somewhere i'm getting that air-five returned!

i think she's absolutely hysterical and i'd so do lunch with her if she wanted to...
(and i'm like 99% sure Bryn will have the funniest personality ever, i mean, right?)

Did anybody else watch the THS: Bethenny Frankel  ????
love it, hate it?

she cracks me up, i dont care if she is on the news or snl-  i get the biggest kick out of her personality. way to go E! you made my wednesday night!!!
cheers, friends- happy wednesday!

fall-ing out

i'm not sure why, but i'm really not much into fall...........

how did this happen?
i have no idea, its just not my thing.

i dont really even decorate for it, and if you know me, you know i love to decorate and change things up! so, why not fall? --no idea, i just go straight from summer to wanting Christmas.
it makes me sad though, i go to people's houses and see all their precious fall decorations, and all the adorable pumpkins and i think "i could do this....." but there is no motivation. i just want to put my tree up!

maybe i should just force myself to do it.

maybe i'm missing the "fall" in my dna.

maybe i'm crazy.

sigh, who knows. i want to love fall. i do like the caramel apple spice drinks @ starbucks, but i love wassail at Christmas. i like pumpkins, but i LOVE snowflakes.

i like turkey and dressing, but i LOVE holiday&Christmas parties.

what i do love about fall--THE CLOTHES:
jeans and boots.

scarves and boots.
hats and boots.

flats and coats.

chic football outfits!
oh how i love some fall style. is that a redeeming quality for those of you that are steaming mad at me for being a fall party pooper??!??
how cute & cozy!!!
sigh, maybe i'll try some fall decor this season... maybe not. who knows.
happy monday!

its a jungle out there

currently reading:
Lipstick Jungle by Candace Bushnell
i'm having a little bit of a hard time getting into it,
i feel like it bounces around quite a bit!
am i alone, or did anyone else feel that way about it?

has anyone else read it?
or has anyone watched the show???
i figure if i can ever get into the book,
i could potentially buy the series...

anybody love it?
hate it?
book vs show?
think i read too many books?
 (no darling husband,
you're not allowed to comment
on how big of a bookworm i am)

sigh, i'll keep reading. hopefully it catches soon!
happy friday (and happy weekend,woohoo)

twenty six

thats right people, guess who is 26 now!?!

my birthday was 9-11.

but, i never feel its all that appropriate to run around celebrating on a day that caused so many people's lives to be turned upside down. i just feel for those who lost family and friends. needless to say, i felt so blessed to be alive, be an American, and be surrounded by so many people that i love dearly!

where was i on 9-11-01... i was 16, at the dmv, to get my drivers license. the lady doing my eye exam told me there was a plane crash in new york, and that was all she knew. by the time i had driven to school, it had become clear what had happened, and from there is was a somber day.

it still blows my mind that its been 10 years. sigh, so much has happened and so much has changed, but i will never forget!

so, here was 9-11-11

drew's parents did my birthday dinner early, it was delicious, as always, and my sweet father in law picked out adorable princess cupcakes with tiara ring toppers for me (and made me homemade peach ice cream ... oh my that makes me happy!) i was recovering from a cold, so i didnt take any pics, as i looked ill.

but here are a couple from later in the week:
hubby took me to dinner at one of our fav local LBK places

yikes, i look 10 years older!!!

then sunday church, lunch, and i got a cooking lesson from my mama.
i've wanted to learn a family recipe that was passed down from my grandmother, and so for my "birthday dinner" i asked for the lesson to go with it.
woohoo, it turned out great, but i have no pics to prove it!

and sweet mama made me a yummy red velvet cake,
she always tints the frosting pink for me,
but this year she decorated my pretty cake!
isnt it fab!?!

it was a very pink day, and i got to spend it with family!
it doesnt get much better than that,
cheers to birthdays!
