heres the thing

so, i kept thinking i would find my camera charger so i could upload pics and get back to blogging...

yet to happen.

and, since i dont believe in posting w/o a picture (or 5) i've just taken a little break from the bloggy world, which was nice and gave me an opportunity to pretty much become a Pinterest VIP (or i think i am, and my husband claims they should give me an award for how many hours i spend pinning)

so, until i find my battery to charge my camera - so i can actually, you know... turn it on, i'll be using my dear love pinterest for her pics...

(anyone else thinking i should find a backup charger? last time i lost it, i found it in a suitcase about 6 months after a vacation-- which really only means, i should vacation more... right?)

until then, i have a little rant

DEAR HOBBY LOBBY,
I'D LIKE TO INFORM YOU THAT IS JULY, AND YOU'VE ALREADY PUT OUT YOUR CHRISTMAS DECOR, WHICH IS KINDA PUTTING A DAMPER ON MY SUMMER TAN. DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS IS NECESSARY? NO ONE PLANS THAT FAR AHEAD, JUST LET US ENJOY THE POOL, thanks... me :)

sigh, okay i'm over it.
in the spirit of Christmas and decorating,
here are some of my favorite Christmas pics from pinterest:
1. apple cider in apples.... genius
(and a lot of work hollowing out apples)

2. the ultimate Christmas cake

3. this is beautiful

4. first, i LOVE this song
and second, how cute is this?!?

and 5. the man tree
thought this was pretty impressive for a man,
the gifts are even wrapped.
high-five!

happy monday,
apologies for my absence,
i'll do better :)

heads-up 7-up

i was so thrilled to share with you all my sweet Nana's recipe for 7-up pound cake, mmm its so delicious!!! i made one of andrew's favorite meals, and then surprised him with yummy dessert, we each had a small piece, watched a movie, and then headed off to bed.

BUT-- during the night, there was a huge mishap.

a certain member of our family helped himself to the entire rest of the cake. therefore i have no pictures of my lovely cake. grrrrr... Coach, really?!?

here is a substitute picture
and here is Nana's 7-Up Cake Recipe:

1 1/2 C. butter
3 C. sugar
5 eggs
3 C. flour
2 T. lemon extract
3/4 C. 7-Up

preheat over to 325. grease and flour fluted/bundt pan. cream sugar and butter until fluffy; add eggs and beat well; add extract and 7-Up. Mix well and add flour. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 1 1/4 hours.

its always a pleaser, and very easy.
give it a try-- just remember to put yours out of great dane reach.
happy wednesday!

little devil

so, for thanksgiving this year i volunteered to make the devilled eggs... only problem:

i've never made them before.

eeek! so, i decided to do my trial runs early, perfect the recipe, and enjoy the tasting!
i did my first batch to compare between powdered mustard and dijon mustard
the winner: dijon

and the second batch was comparing brown eggs with white eggs
the winner: brown eggs
lucky i collect antique devilled egg trays!!!

as it turns out, i love making devilled eggs,
and i love even more the presentation of a beautiful serving piece!!!
fun fact:
i found this green DEggTray at a thrift store, i saw it... and fought some girl (no, not really) i just picked it up and put it in my buggy... i took it home to show my mama how beautiful it was, and she realized that it is the exact same pattern as one of the punch bowls she has.... hoooray!!!
so, for my someday future baby/wedding shower hosting, i'll have a darling set of green essentials.
i figure, for a boy shower it will be perfect with blue/brown
and for a girl, pink and green is just precious... i'm totally set.
friends, have babies so i can throw your shower!!!
or, you can just come over and i'll have an excuse to make devilled eggs!!!
happy monday!
